C'mon, Joe, show us what you know ... step up and stop this impeachment charade

  • "I represent all of you, whether you voted for me or against me. And I'm going to make sure you're represented."
  • "(President Trump is) a very confused guy. He thinks he's running against someone else. He's running against Joe Biden. I beat all those other people because I disagreed with them."
  • "Two hundred twenty thousand Americans dead. If you hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this … anyone that's responsible for that many deaths should not remain president of the United States of America."

The above are all quotes from Joe Biden during the final 2020 Presidential Debate.

The following is a quote from Biden today regarding the support for the idea of impeaching President Donald Trump, just days before he leaves office anyway.

“I had a discussion today with some of the folks in the House and Senate. And the question is whether or not, for example, if the House moves forward — which they obviously are — with the impeachment and sends it over to the Senate, whether or not we can bifurcate this.”

I'm amazed
— and yet not amazed — that nobody in the media appears willing to question Biden and the Dems on this point. It certainly gives the the sense good journalism will be put on hold for at least the next four years.

If we are to take the President Elect at his word, he is going to represent all Americans, even the ones who didn't vote for him. That means he intends to represent the 75 million Americans who voted for Trump. He also noted that he can and will think for himself as the President, that he beat the other Democrat candidates because he disagreed with them, thereby indicating that he won't be a puppet for his party's far-Left wing (which included his running mate, Kamala Harris).

Finally, one of Biden's key talking points during the run-up to the election was that Trump was not focused enough on dealing with COVID-19. He accused Trump of taking his eye off the ball and risking the lives of countless more Americans. He told us that as President, he would make COVID-19 his No. 1 priority.

Now I ask you, given the top three quotes, why in the world would Biden give even tacit support to an impeachment? Why would he possibly get behind something that, at best, would be nothing more than an added distraction to the fight against COVID-19, and at worst, serve to create an even greater divide in an already fractured American electorate? If he thought Trump was an incompetent President because of his divisive and vindictive style, why not show us a different tact? My goodness, if there was ever a time to move forward with the utmost Presidential leadership, it's now!

Why is he not being asked these simple questions? They are indeed worthy of explanation.

I will state here unequivocally that I am personally prepared to support President Elect Biden when he takes office. I feel it's my duty. But I don't think expecting him to keep his word is out of line.

The idea of attempting to impeach a President a week before he leaves office is ultimately nothing more than political gamesmanship and righteous indignation. If Trump left things in such a mess that there's endless work to be done, then please step up and start working. Start moving forward ... with all of us.
